A New Year Begins
The 2024-2025 year kicked off over the past few weeks. At Vanderbilt these are very busy days with all the activities leading up to and including "Welcome Week". Here are a few of my favorite photos from these busy two weeks.
Bag Stuffing: Vanderbilt fills backpacks for incoming first year and transfer students each year.
Students move into the new Residential College, Carmichael.
Move-In day: First year students move into their homes for the next year.
Transfer Student welcome party on Hawkins Field. Each year we host a party for the transfer students and we do a "V" photo of them using the drone.
Founders Walk: Convocation for the start of the students journey at Vandy. This year was really above and beyond.
Class Photo: Each year we assemble all new students in the form of their graduating year. I shoot from the ground while John is in the lift doing the overheads. This year our social team got the whole student body to do the Hot To Go dance, we got nearly 5 million views on social media.
First Day of Class: We had a lot of activities for this, a golf cart turned into an ice cream truck, friendship bracelets, and of course the obligatory walking to class photos. We also do a "First Day of Class" photo, started this last year and continued it this year. I suggested we do them in B&W to give it a nice look. Students love this. In two hours I had about 150 students pose for me.
